An enthusiastic audience at the
Jewish Woman's, Club monthly meet-
ing, on Monday afternoon, listened
to Captain Alexander Aaronsohn of
Palestine, lecturer and linguist, who
spoke on "The Powder Magazine of
Europe." Mrs. Truman Newberry,
wife of the former Assistant Secre-
tary of the Navy and United States
Senator, national president of the
Needlework Guild of America, told of
the remarkable strides made by the
guild, whose purpose is to distribute
new articles of wearing apparel to
charitable organizations. Reports of
the club's activities were given by
various chairmen, after which a re-
ception for Mrs. Newberry and Cap-
tain Aaronsohn was held in the din-
ing room of the clubhouse. Refresh-
ments were served by members of the
social hour committee, with Mrs. Her-
bert Sloman as chairman and Mrs.
Milton Kuttnauer as vice-chairman.
Guests were received by members of
the hospitality committee, headed by
Mrs. Monroe Rosenfield and Mrs. D.
W. Simons.

The dining hall of Temple Beth El
was the scene of a charming affair on
Tuesday evening, when members of
all affiliated boards of the temple met
at dinner to discuss matters of im-
portance involving the welfare of the
temple societies. Organizations rep-
resented were the executive board o f
the temple, the Men's Club, Young
People's Society, Religious school com-
mittee, Temple Arts Society and
chairmen of the various committees of
the temple.

Miss Helen Ilenshel Morris of Bur-

the city for the Thanksgiving period,
among those entertaining house guests
being Mr. and Mrs. Jack Snyder of

Miss Shannette Baer and Miss Joseph-

Toledo public schools.

Mr. and Mrs. Leo J. Rodgers of

The Women's League of the United
Hebrew Schools of Detroit will meet
at 2:30 p. m. Monday, at the Kirby
Center, for the purpose of holding the
annual election of officers.
An interesting program prepapred
for the meeting includes musical num-
bers and a playlet by the pupils of
the schools.
Miss Mary Caplan, educational di-
rector of the United Hebrew Schools
of Detroit, will be the speaker of the
afternoon, in addition to others.
Mrs. Henry Weinstein is chairman
of the nominations committee for the
election. The present officers of the
league are: Mrs. Wolf Kaplan, pres-
ident; Mrs. Phillip Gordon, vice-pres-
ident; Mrs. Perlmutter, recording sec-
retary; Mrs. M. Mendelsohn, finan-
cial secretary; Mrs. M. Weiswasser,
treasurer.
Members of the league are urged
to attend the meeting and to partici-
pate in the opening of what is hoped
will be a successful year.
