preached, the peace of the world, can hardly claim that his in-
terest in General Haller is based upon any common ideals of
peace and good-will, for the infamous and notorious Haller has

American Jewish Committee, of
which Louis Marshall is president,
contains an optimistic note to the ef-
fect that anti-Jewish activity is dying
out and in conceding Germany to be
an exception says:
"With anti-Semitism discredited
in the more enlightened countries
of the world, it cannot long survive
in Central and Eastern Europe."
Is not the American Jewish Com-
mittee's report in direct contradiction
to fact? Even in this country, is it
right to ignore the activities of cer-
tain groups, particularly the Ku Klux
Klan, and to froze ourselves to be-
lieve that anti-Semitism is dying out,
at a time when the dangers our peo-
ple are facing are becoming daily
more threatening?

Jewish Anti-Semites.
Whatever the dangers to Jewry, in
the long run it is the Jew's', anti-
Semite that we must fear most. It is
sad enough to read in the Bo ston
Transcript of "so-called 'Jews,' aliens
though they are, who are guilty of
abusing the hospitality of an all too-
patient and easy-going people," the
editorial later declaring these "Jews-
aliens" to be "fit subjects for depot-
lotion." But when Jews resort to dis-
tinctions in their own ranks as between
American and alien Jews, the damage
is greatest because more painful.
When a Jewish weekly like the Amer-
ican Israelite, in speaking of the
American Jewish Congress, attacks it
on the ground that "it represents at
best a small fraction of the Jews of
America and that portion composed
