cessful American Jewish business
men would revolutionize Palestine in
five years, in the opinion of Mr. Top-
kis, manufacturer and financier of
Wilmington, and well known in Jewish
communal work all over the country.
American Jewish business men of
creative ability would unlock the nat-
ural resources of Palestine, many of
which have as yet been untouched
and remedy the present disproportion
between agriculture and industry
thus furnishing many employment op-
portunities for immigrants.
Mr. Topkis has just returned after
a stay of eight months in Palestine in
the course of which he traveled up and
down the length and breadth of the
land several times, visited 55 out of
the 85 Jewish colonies in the country,
studied conditions and possibilities
from the point of view of a successful
American business man and finan-
cier, and established the American In-
formation Bureau in Jerusalem with
a view to furnishing tourists, especial-
ly Jewish tourists, with accurate in-
formation and a correct impression of
the achievements and possibilities of
Palestine. Mr. Topkis is now engaged
in the promotion of plans in the inter-
ests of Palestine.
