He is a man who has never chosen to have his lion lasted until 1900, when Mr. Du- rant became interested with David Buick and others in the Buick Motor Car Companay of Flint. Mr. Dort continued to carry on the business of the carriage company which was then at its height. Mr. Dort has always insisted that his organization strive for quality bile manufacturerr. The Dort Motor Car Company occupies a permanent and unique position in the industry today largely because of Mr. Dorrs forceful leadership and striking per- sonality. The working forces of the Dort Mo- tor Car Company probably set a rec- ord for continuous employment that few auotmobile organizations can equal. Many of the associates of Mr. Dort, president and founder of the concern which hears his name, have conic up with him through the entire 37 years of the company's existence. Mr. Dort is a firm believer in the theory that the attitude of the man toward his job makes or mars the quality of his work. The manufac- turer may establish standards of ac- curacy, he may supply all known de- vices for determining and I these factors; he may eves most rigid inspection, but r of his highest aim, if the ir.: the machines are not toys' scientious or if they are n, , wi t l% hirthie)i(r,rjtobhsa; always tok • c t he , -hart hi nd ! ,..s. • ° '"''I tire interest in the affairs ∎ .1 ployes. DALLAS DORT President Dort Motor Co. name blazed in the white light of pub- licity, but he has always been an im- portant, if not one of the most impor- tant factors, in building the automo- bils business up to its present pro- portions. He is J. Dallas Dort, president of the Dort Motor Car Company. Mr. Port, now in his 03d year, is one of the most active leaders in the automobile field. He is an exception- ally hard worker and plays just as hard as he works. It has been said, and truthfully stated, that Mr. Dort has given to the automobile industry more prominent and successful executives than any other one man. Ile has been the mentor of men whose names are now spoken wherever automobiles are talked shout. Men like C. W. Nash, A. 13. C. Ilardy, president of Oldsmo- bile; C. B. Hayes, president of the Hayes Wheel Company; Fred Ilohen- see of Durant, Fred Weiss, president of Flint Motor Axle Company; T. W. Houghton, superintendent of Chevro- let; D. 1f. Averill, vice-president of Dort and scores of others. The growth of the Port Motor Car Company from the days of carriages and bicycles is an interesting one. After Mr. Dort and Mr. Durant, the same Durant who is now head of Durant Motors, formed the Durant Dort Carriage Company in 1886, suc- cess followed immediately. The Du- rant-Dort Carriage Company grew to be the largest builders of passenger vehicles in the world with branches first; then price. He is more proud of the fact that many of his cars which have run 100,000 miles and more are still runnning than if he were able to say that he built more cars a year than any other automo- DEAD OR ALIVE You Owe Your Family a Living Phone 5939 LEAVE IT TO W & W 112 W.
