The elaborate social town function
that has been a rare occasion during'
the social season owing to the popu-
larity of the various country clubs
was. the delightful reception and
dance at the Phoenix club rooms the
mist week at w•ich Mr. and Mrs.
c harks Finsterwtild of Calvert ove-
rlie were hosts to 200 guests, in com-
memoration of the thirtieth anni-
versary of their marriage. Mr. and
Mrs. Finsterwald greeted their guests
in the parlors of the club, and were
assisted by their daughters, the
Misses Rae and Lucille Finsterwald,
who were charming in exceedingly
fetching costumes of white creton
crepe, with lace of correstamilinif
hue, and flowered silver cloth, with
background' of rose chiffon with
large bow of rose tulle. Mrs. tipster-
wild was lovely in a gown at black
lace, combined with satin. Tall wick-
er baskets, filled with larkspur and
gladiolas in red and white, the pre-
dominating colors, intermingled with
maiden hair ferns and smilax, were
placed at intervals at the large table
at which punch was served. Similar
baskets centered the individual tables;
around which the guests were seated,
while partaking of a midnight repast.
Noted among the out-of-town guests
at this beautiful affair were Mr•and
Mrs. Edmund Lichtenstein (Elsa
RueggerI of Brussels, Lelgium, who
are visiting their parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Jos. Lichtenstein; Miss Adeline
Harding 'of Buffalo, the charming
house guest of Miss Sallie Lambert;
Isaac Levy and Junior Marx of Jack-
son, Mich., who were visitors at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Max Grabow-
sky.
