An exceptionally delightful func-
tion in connection with the executive
meeting of the Michigan State Feder-
ation Of Temple Sisterhoods held in
Detroit Monday was the charming
luncheon tendered the visiting dele-
gates and presidents of local Jewish
women's societies at the Phoenix
Club. Mrs. Wallace Rosenheim wan
chairman of this affair, which was
delightful in the extreme. Dainty
spring flowers in all their freshness
adorned the tables at which the
guests were seated. Delegates and
local guests were welcomed by Mrs.
Mayer Sulzberger, president Of the
Michigan Federation of Temple Sis-
terhoods. Responses were made by
Mrs, Samuel Glogower, president of
the Jewish Woman's Club; Mrs. Da-
vid Zemon, president of the Ladies'
Auxiliary of the Shaarey Zedek; Mrs.
Oscar Robinson, chairman of the
house committee of the Y. W. II. A.,
and Mrs. Joseph II. Ehrlich, presi-
dent of the Detroit Hadassah chap-
ter. Mrs. Flurry It. Solomon was
chairman of the social hour commit-
tee at the reception given in the af-
ternoon for Dr. Louis L. Mann.

The ballroom of Hotel Stotler was
transformed into a tropical fairyland
eef flowers and greenery on Saturday
evening last, when Mr. and Mrs. Jo-
seph I.. Selling were hosts to 200
guests at a dinner dance in com-
memoration of the twentieth anni-
verysary of their marriage. The
small round tables at which the
guests were sealed were gorgeously
adorned with rose bushes with over-
hanging branches of pink Ophelia
roses. Mrs. Selling was charming in
a wonderful gown of sapphire blue
brocade velvet and silver cloth and
was assisted in receiving by her sis-
ters, Mrs. Hugo A. Freund and Mrs.
Joseph Welt, both of whom were at-
tired in beautiful costumes. The
younger set Was represented, compli-
mentary to Miss Louise Selling. Sev-
eral guests from out of the city at-
tended this delightful function,
among them being Mr. and Mrs. G.
Sterns and Mrs. Samson Schoenbrun
of Chicago; Mrs. Julius Horkimer,
Ernest and Bernard Horkimer of
Wheeling, W. Va.; Mrs. Bernard Sel-
ling, Mrs. Diana Sinn and Mrs. Her-
bert Bienstok of New York.

ing?" Election of officers and direc-
tors will take place and several
amendments to the constitution will
be acted upon.

Sloman were hosts at charmingly ap-
pointed dinners at their homes and
at the Phoenix Club in honor of their
uncle, Leopold Benda of Nurenberg,
Bavaria, who was the house guest of
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Mendelsohn eef

ter a trip to Chicago and Des Moines,
Iowa, Mr. Benda left for New York,
from which point he sailed on the

INSTALLATION CEREMONY

On Monday evening, April 30, at the
Eastern Star Temple, SO West Alex-
andrine avenue, the newly elected offi-
cers of Purity Chapter No. 355, were
duly installed in their respective offi-
ces The main auditorium of the
Temple was tastefully decorated for
the occasion with flowers and palms.
The floral gates leading to the East
were commanded by little pages in
costume appropriate for the occasion.
Mrs. Helen Dushkin officiated as in-
stalling matron in an impressive man-
ner and was very ably assisted by
Nathan Metzger, installing patron,
Mrs. Ray Stralser, installing mar-
shal. Past Worthy Matron, Mrs. Jul-
ia Zechman Presented a beautifully
jeweled star pin to the retiring ma-
tron, and Past Worthy Matron Mrs.
Ethel Schiller presented the floral em-
blems tee the different officers.

tle Dorothy Sorock pleased with two
e•ostume dances, and Mr. Smith ren-
dered a piano selection. Beautiful
gifts were given both the incoming
and outgoing worthy matron as well
as tee the other officers. A large crowd
