What is the meaning of "Zik?"
(Zentralni Ispolnitelni Komitet —
central actions committee). "Zehn
Ides Kommandiren" — in Yiddish:
"Ten Jews in Command." The pas-
sion in Soviet Russia for abbrevia-
tions is repsonsible for a god deal of
iword play. The abbreviation for the
!prohibited trade in values, "Zedek"
(charity) is interpreted as "Zarski,
Denikinsky, Kerensky" (the different
forms of Russian currency.
"Trest" is interpreted as "Trotsky

ment of Bolshevism has found its ex-
pression in our Jewish folk humor.
When the "Nep," the new economic
policy, came into being and Jewish
