F you did not see our remark-
able ad in last Friday's paper,
we will be glad to send you a
copy upon request.
It gave some "dry facts" about
the furniture business that have
set folks to thinking. Probably no
furniture advertisement everbe-
fore created so much comment.
Here are more "Dry Facts:"
They deal with the ADVERTISING
of furniture.
Most furniture ads look alike. The
pictures are the same, the descriptions
sound alike; the prices vary little; the
"sales-talk" in each has a familiar ring.
But what a difference there is in the
furniture!
"How can this be?" asked the wary cus-
tomer, responding to an ad. "This LOOKS like
the suite I saw advertised; but yet, somehow it
DOESN'T!"
The illusion was created by a clever artist,
who gave to the furniture lines of grace, and
touches of finish it did not possess—reproduc-
ing the detail with minute exactness.
In this way cheap furniture is often made to
look "like a million dollars;" and, similarly, an
elegant suite, pictured by a poor artist, may be
made to look "like thirty cents."
It is not our desire to cast any reflection upon the
integrity of advertising in general. We desire only
to advise the public against premature judgments.
We believe it is better to under-state a fact than
to exaggerate it. Hence, in word and picture, ROB-
INSON-COHEN advertising is always conservative.
Customers are never disappointed when they
come to one of our stores. In fact, rarely are they
prepared for the beauty and variety of the showings
that await them.
And the prices are .bout 25% less than those
generally prevailing.
