Celebrates Chamisho Osor B'Sheet
and Elects New Officers.
The Knights of Judaea, at the meet-
ing held Tuesday evening at the Tal-
mud Torah on Westminster and Del-
mar avenues, pledged an additional
$100 to the Keren Hayesod, the Pal-
estine Foundation Fund.
The Knights pledged $100 to the
fund live months ago and paid $75
of that sum in that period. The mem-
bers are hopeful of oversubscribing
the sum of $125 now due for I'ales-
tine in the coming year. The Knights
of Judaea have the distinction of hav-
ing paid the largest sum to the Keren
Ilayesod of any other young folks'
organization in voluntary subscrip-
tions by the members,
A feature of the meeting Tuesday ,
evening was the celebration of Cham-
isho Osor B'Shvat by the club. Harry
Seligson spoke on the significance of
this Jewish Arbor Day. Palestinian
fruits and other refreshments were
served.
The business meeting was featured
by the election of officers. The fol-
lowing were chosen: Sol Slomovitz,
president; Joseph Markel, vice-presi-
dent; Ilarry Seligson, secretary;
Meyer Zeff, treasurer; Berri Shur,
Keren Hayesod treasurer; Sam Fire-
stone, Chronicle reporter.

The last meeting of the Pirchai
Zion was held at the home of Ger-
trude Cohen, 633 Medbury, on Satur-
day evening, Jan. 27. Election of offi-
cers resulted as follows: Frieda Gold,
president; Bessie Kosak, vice-presi-
dent; Lillian Schneider, corresponding
secretary; Celia Becker, recording
secretary; Jennie Schneider, treas-
urer.
The program of the evening was
featured by a discussion of the death
of Dr. Max Nordau. A debate was
held on the question, "Resolved, that
Judas Maccabeaus was a greater Jew-
ish leader and soldier than Bar Koch-
ba." The affirmative consisted of
Frieda Gold and Celia Becker, the
negative of Marrilynn Greenfield and
Gertrude Cohen. The affirmative side
was declared the winner. Samuel
Heyman, a visitor at the meeting, ad-
dressed the club. Mass singing of
Young Judaea songs concluded the
program.
