WHAT IS MAASER?

Maaser is the ancient Jewish tithe or tax
on income. It is as old as the Jewish people.
In the past, its purpose was to provide the
means with which to maintain the Jewish
national institutions and the Jewish Kehillas

is to provide the means with which to rebuild
the Jewish National Home in Palestine.
Every Jew in the United States is mor-
ally obligated to pay minimum Maaser in
accordance with the scale regularly fixed
and adopted.
The instrument which gathers Maaser
and utilizes it for rebuilding Palestine is the
Palestine Foundation Fund (Keren Haye-
sod) .
