"Gonna of Distinction"

Most of our new customers, we
learn, since their friends have told
them of the Bernard Shop, come here
anticipating new styles, finer quality
and better values than they custom-
arily find. And because they, too,
proclaim "there is no better place for
gowns and wraps," it is evident that
their expectations are realized.

Rabbi Franklin's Lectures:
The second of Rabbi Franklin's lec-
tures in his course on "The Literary
Study of the Bible" will be given Fri-
day evening of this week, Dec. 15, at
8 o'clock. The first of these lec-
tures awakened much interest on the
part of those who were present and
it is therefore expected that the
second sddress of the series will be •
heard by an even larger number than
were present at the opening lecture.
These addresses will hereafter be
given in the chapel of the temple.
Dr. Slonimsky's second lecture in
his series on "The Philosophy of Re-
ligion" will be given on Friday even
ing, Dec. 22.

The national office of the Keren
Hayesod in the United States, 50
Union Square, New York, announces
the receipt of a letter from Col. Jo-
siah C. Wedgwood, M. P., enclosing
his personal contribution to the Pal-
estine Foundation Fund. It will be
recalled that Colonel Wedgwood was
touring the United States in the in-
B terests of the Palestine Foundation
Fund when he was compelled to
break off his tour in order to return
to England for the Parliamentary
elections.
In his letter the colonel states that
the Jews need not regret the change
in the British government as far as
Palestine is concerned. He alludes
to the fact that William Ormsby-
Gore now occupies the post as Under-
Secretary of State for Foreign Af-
fairs and expresses the belief that
the cause of Palestine is in friendly
hands. It is pointed out that Orms
by-Gore has been one of the most
ardent and consistent defenders of
the Balfour Declaration in British
public life.
