MacInnes, Anglican Bish- op of Jerusalem, now in this country, who was reported by the metropolitan press to have assailed the Zionist movement in his sermon On November 5 at the Cathedral of St. John the Di. vine, is not against Zionism," accord- ing to his statement in the "Palestine Weekly" of Jerusalem on October 29, 1921. The Bishop's statement was called forth by a cabled version of his speech when addressing the Jerusalem and East Mission in London last year, conveying the impression that he "op. enly ranked himself against the pol- icy of the British Government." Denying that he opposes the Zion- ist policy, the Bishop, after publish- ing the full text of the speech, made, in part, the following comment: "I did not 'openly rank myself against the declared polity of my na- tional government.' (My seech will show that I suported the declared pol- icy of the British government far more loyally than any Zionist I have ever met.) "Whenever I speak, the Zionist pa- pers publish articles headed The An- glican Bishop against Zionism.' They never demonstrate or prove it. They merely asseverate. But I am not against Zionism nor have 1 ever been against it. I challenge any man to produce a single sentence in any speech or writing of mine during the last three years in which I have rang- ed myself against Zionism. It is not Zionism that I oppose, but the meth- od and statements of many of its ad- herents." o.eial and pQ rsona1 ) The parliamentary law class of the Jewish Woman's Club meets on Tues- day at 10 o'clock, instead of 10:30, as previously announced. --- Dr. and Mrs. Ben Fischer and Dr. and Mrs. 1Veis of Pittsburgh, l'a., will be the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Sloman next Wednesday and Thurs- day.
