YOUNG JUDAEA DANCE
Paris decrees that a blouse must do more
than meet the skirt half way—and so, for
good measure the new blouses go all the way
to the hips. And since it is becoming to most
women, this fashion is meeting with decided
favor. The one you choose may be the sim-
plest sort of Crepe de Chine or the elabo-
rately beaded one of Georgette Crepe, but
whichever it is we know it will be lovely.

who has just returned from the Paris

magnificent array of gowns and world
famous lingerie.
Is addition to these ravishing im-
portations, an exhibit of sumptuous
fur wraps has been included as af-
fording especial interest to women
at this season.
Interest will undoubtedly run high
among Detroit women of fashion in
an exhibition which has the distinc-
tion of being imported directly from
the heart of the fashion world—an
authentic interpretation of fashion's
newest vogue.
Although American women adapt
oftener than they adopt the Paris
vogue, there has been a marked
change of attitude, as evidenced by
the increasing following of continen-
tal designers by our American fashion
originators. For this reason it is ex-
pected that this Parisian "Fashion
Frolic" will attract many of the fash-
ion-fastidious of Detroit.
The hours of the exhibition are ar-
'
ranged for the convenience of morn-
ing and afternoon visitors, Monday
and Tuesday mornings from 10 to
12; afternoons from 3 to 5.

MANY CLUB ACTIVITIES
The North Woodward Branch of the
European Jewish Women's Welfare
Organization announces that reserva-
tions for the luncheon and card party
to be held on Tuesday afternoon, Oct
10, at the Hotel Taller, were made for
all tickets so far distributed by mail
and otherwise. The committee in
charge asks that reservations for ex-
tra plates be made at once.
Mrs. 1k1. Goldberg of 302 Owen ave-
nue is in charge of the arrangements
for the card party, assisted by Mrs.
Joseph Rabinowitz. The entire pro-
ceeds go towards bringing European
Jewish orphans to this country.
The organization, in asking the com-
munity's support, points out that ev-
ery coin added to the society's fund
will help more unfortunate orphans
to reach the shores of the United
States and find peace and rest after
years of suffering abroad.
GIOVANNI MARTINELLI
his last appearance here several years
ago. Also the genial Metropolitan
star will have an excellent assisting
artist with him and Salvatore Fucito,
who formerly accompanied Caruso.
The fame of Martinelli is world
wide. Whether in London, Milan, Ha-
vana, Buenas Aires or in New York ,
where he appears for the ninth suc-
cessive season as one of the leading
tenors of the metropolitan Opera
Company, the youthful vibrant qual-
ity of Martinelli's magnetic tenor
voice has gained him thousands of
friends and won for him a permanent
place in the vocal Hall of Fame.
Martinelli's musical career started
in the little town of Padua in North-
ern Italy, where he was clarinettist in
the local band. The bandmaster per-
suaded him to forsake his instrument
and develop his natural gift for sing-
ing. This man was his first teacher
and was instrumental in securing for
Martinelli his first operatic engage-
ments which eventually led to his in-
ternationgl triumphs on three conti-
nents. The romatic role of "Ernani"
plays an important part in Martinel-
li's sensational career.
