The sad story of how a family V
broken up an orphans placed in a
Rion of want is told by Rabbi A.
Schwartz, formerly of Budapest, n-w
residing at the home of Mrs. Jacob)',
1449 Longfellow avenue, this city
Rabbi Schwartz tells that imm. 1-
lately following his arrival in ti 5
country, he received word from I s
children that their mother (lied. 11:0-
ing no money to pay funeral expert:" s,
they had to appeal to their neighh. -5
for assistance. One of his sons, Ben-
nie, writes his father, in advising him
that he and his sisters are motherle-!:
"We eight children are here fath..-
less and motherless. We have to 1.:"
rent and we have no bread. We h
you to do something for us. Fah-
take us to you, or come home, bees':
we.cannot exist as we are. Our little
Ethel constantly cries and asks f r
mother. You can well imagine o
position.
"We would ask you to send us some
money as soon as possible, or come
home as soon as possible. We know
that you have no money, but we also
know that the people in America have
good hearts and would help you
come home and help your poor chi.-
dren."
Rabbi Schwartz has sent for his
children, having secured transporta-
tion tickets at a much reduced price.
He appeals for assistance from De-
troiter!' to help him get settled with
his children, and asks that contribu -
tions be sent through The Detroit
Jewish Chronicle, then to be forward -
ed to him.
