But it is safe to assume that when

With the advent of this new Packard,
we believe that a definite turning-point
has been reached in the manufacture of
the better motor cars.

Packard resourcefulness in producing
motor carriages of incomparable charm,
and brilliant, dashing performance, has,
in this instance, surpassed itself.

But—something infinitely more impor-

tant and impressive has also been
accomplished.

The new Packard conveys an instant
and vivid conviction of value so
very great as to be almost epochal.

We are sure that this group of eight inimit-
able cars will compel you to comparisons
which are certain to give the new Packard
a position of overwhelming advantage.

Offers Proposal.

The committee of the Free Syna-
gogue could not be dissuaded from its
original purpose, but offered the pro-
posal above mentioned as a basis of
co-operation between the union and
the Free Synagogue.
The committee representing the
union placed this nroposal before a
conference of members of the execu-
tive board of the union and members
of the board of governors of the He-
brew Union College, which took place
in Cincinnati on the evening of April
1. This conference unanimously
adopted a resolution which expresses
the firm belief that the interests of
American Judaism can best be served
by a greater and more adequately
sunported Itebrew Union College
rather than by starting a new insti-
tution.
Mr. Hay's committee embodied this
decision in the form of a letter which
was sent to Dr. I,ee K. Frankel, chair-
man of the Free Synagogue commit.
tee. and which follows in part:
"In accordance with my last letter
to you, dated March 29, Ludwig Vo-
gelstein and I, representing oar com-
mittee, went to Cincinnati for the
nurnose of consulting the governing
bodies of the Union of American He-
brew Congregations and the Hebrew
Union College regarding your plan
of onening a rabbinical college in
New York City and your proposal for
co-operation.

Grounds of Request.

"We explained to the gentlemen
with whom we conferred in Cincin-
nati that our committe had met with
the committee of the Free Synagogue
of which you are the chairman, and
that our committee had endeavored
to dissuade you from establishing
such an institute of religion. We re-
peated to them the grounds upon
which we made this request of you.
First, that the Hebrew Union College
fulfills all the needs of the situation,
its training being adequate, its facul-
ty distinguished, its location ideal.
Secondly, the Hebrew Union College
is now an historical institution; its
graduates number over 200, occupy-
ing the vast majority of the leading
Jewish pulpits of America; its claim
to the gratitude of American Israel
is based on achievements not to be
set aside easily nor to be disposed of
lightly; the institution founded by
Dr. Isaac 11f. Wise has an inalienable
claim not only upon the allegianc: of
every alumnus of the college, but
upon every congregation belonging to
the Union of American Hebrew Con-
gregations, and upon every roan in
the Liberal Jewish ministry; in short,
that it is absolutely necessary to
unite all efforts in the support of the
Hebrew Union College.
"Further. we made clear to them
that we had pointed out to your com-
mittee that the college represents a
large financial investment in excel-
lently equipned college buildings, an
unequalled library, and that it would
soon have a dormitory. All of these
are necessary feautres of a college,
and the results of many years of
painstaking effort and immeasurable
sacrifice.

Gentlemen :—
After using your Gasoline Saver on my Maxwell touring car for
six months, I find that it is a wonderful saver on gasoline, from 18
to 26 miles on a gallon.
It has also added 25 per cent more power to my motor. What
I want to ask you now is if I may have the agency for the Gasoline
Saver in this part of the state, as I feel cretain that I can get good
sale for the same. Yours respectfully,

Gentlemen:
Replying to your inquiry as to the results obtained since the
installation of the "Whirling Wonder Gas Savers" on my linotype
machines and metal pot, I am glad to inform you that they are
exactly as you represented them to be.
I am getting a hotter fire with one-half the gas on my metal pot
than before, and I heartily recommend them as an added improve-
ment to all gas fires.
Very truly yours,
FRED J. DUBUQUE, Pressman.
If Detroit users of gas will install the Whirling Wonder Gas
Saver at once, the "cry" of "gas shortage"--and big bills will not
be heard in the city—for the Saver will save the gas and give you
