Anything that will save from 20 to
50 per cent on gas bills is welcome in
these days fo high prices all along the
line. In Detroit is being produced a
device for which this economy is
claimed, and the assertions of the com-
pany are backed up by hundreds of
letters from users.
The Whirling Wonder Gas Saver
is a patented device which fits inside
of the gas pipe and through scientific
principles reduces the amount of gas
consumed. It is installed in the union
joint on the side of the meter, not in
the stove, but between the meter and
the stove. As the gas is forced through
the saver it increases the pressure in
the gas main and at the stove it is cut
down at the needle point, no that more
air and less gas are burned, and a
blue, hot flame results instead of a
carbon, red flame.
The home office of the company is
at 513 Chamber of Commerce building
and the savers are installed by men
with the company. A written guar-
antee that it will save at least 20 per
cent on gas bills is given, but in most
of the letters the saving is rated at
about 50 per cent. Bills have been cut
in half, and not only that, the flame is
much hotter and will boil water quick-
er than the ordinary flow of gas.
Whirling wonder savers have been
installed in hundreds of Detroit
homes, the cost being very small. A
larger size is made for hotels, res-
taurants and industries.

"Where does the water go to?" is Ic
the question of the inquiring visitor
to the battery service station. His
battery gets thirsty and needs refill- Ti
ing with distilled water frequently,
but just why this is true is something Ic
mot car drivers have never given
much thought.
The Willard Storage Battery Com-
pany has spent thousands of dollars
on booklets and advertisements in
their efforts to impress the need of
regular battery filling upon the public.
They have even gone to the trouble of
h aving a moving picture film made on
t his subject which shows how the
water evaporates through normal use,
which necessitates replenishing regu-
l arly. This film will be seen by thou-
ands of people who would not other-
wise get the few simple rules of
battery care.
The purpose of this film is primar-
i ly to help motorists get better service
and greater mileage from their bat-
teries and in order to accomplish this
result a great deal of pains were
taken to make it more vivid. It's
direction was placed in the hands of
an experienced feature play director
and actors were selected who could
best meet the requirements of the dif-
ferent roles.
Long Battery Service Co., who rep-
resents the Willard Company in De-
troit, are enthusiastic about the new-
est All-Rubber Willard Battery which
contains the well known Threaded
Rubber Insulation. This Company
specializes in free testing and filling
service for all makes of batteries.

Among the religious and educa-
tional institutions in the city that
have recently shown progress and an
increase in activity and general
growth is the Congregational Eman-
uel and the Talmud Torah connected
with it.
Meyer Stone, president of the in-
stitution ; . Eli Lightstone, chairman of
the board of education, and Herman.
Fisher, secretary, are particularly
taking an active interest in the work
and are doing their utmost to ad-
vance the cause of Hebrew education.
Joel Cashdan, the teacher at the
Talmud Torah, is being given much
credit by the ,iflicera of the institu-
tion for the progress that has been
made in the Talmud Torah since he
accepted the position as principal
and teacher in that Talmud Torah.
Mr. Cashdan, in addition to id-
augurating the Talmud Torah, is.
spending a great deal of his time 0u .
side his activities in the Talmud Tcl-
rah in creating it better spirit in the•
Talmud Torah among the children'
and in causing the parents to take an
added interest in what is being ac-
complished.
A Young Judaea circle has been
organized in connection with the Tal-
mud Torah, with Miss Faye Cashdan
as leader, and the added interest in
Talmud Torah is in way being at-
tributed to the club.
The officers of the Talmud Torah
and Mr. Cashdan, in sneaking of their
plane for advancing the institution,
expressed the hope that many more.
Jewish residents of the North End
take an interest in the work, and that
more send their children to the Tal-
mud Torah. They point out that at
least three times the number of chil-
dren should be enlisted and make
their appeal to their neighbors to
take a hand in this communal ac-
tivity.
