Greetings of the Season

The Philomathic will hold its an-
nual mock trial on the evening of
April 23 at the Shaarey Zedek audi-
torium. The trial will be held to
convict Aaron Weiswasser as a mur-
derer. Herman August will officiate
as judge, while Sydney DeYoung will
act as court crier. The attorneys will
be I. Rosenzweig, Wilbur DeYoung,
Jack llonigman and Daniel Budnitz-
sky. This will be an open night and
the public is urgently invited to at-
tend so that they may obtain a little
of the humor which will be dispensed
during the evening.

The ending of a successful basket-
ball season of the Maccahean Sports
was celebrated last Sunday by a ban-
quet held at the home of S. Pome-
rantz, chairman of the social commit-
tee. The program at the banquet
consisted of some humorous speeches
given by the members. J. Thumin,
chairman of the organization, acted
as toastmaster.
The program at the next meeting
will he a debate on the question, "Re-
solved, That the United States Per-
manently Retain the Philippine Isl-
ands." This meaaure will be upheld
by S. Pomerantz and J. Thumin and
opposed by H. Shultz and A. Gho- '
kowsky. In addition to this the mem-
bers will be favored with an address''
by Rabbi Sachs, whose reputation as!
a speaker is established. The chief
phase of Rabbi Sachs' address will be
on "The Art of Debating."
