RADIO INVITATIONS FOR
VICTORY CONFERENCE OF
JEWS OF CONNECTICUT

For the first time in the history of
Jewish philanthropic endeavor, the
radio was made use of in sending in-
vitations throughout Connecticut for
the "Victory" conference held at the
Hotel Bond, Sunday, April 2, to cele-
brate the raising of the entire orig-
inal quota of $150,000 in cash, to-
gether with over $200,000 in pledges
to be turned over by Charles H.
Shapiro, Judge Jacob Caplan and
Colonel Issac Si. Ullman, in behalf of
the state committee, to Colonel II. A.
Guinzbere of New York, represent-
ing the National Committee for the
Relief of Jewish War Sufferers.
Through the courtesy of the West-
inghouse Radio Company, these invi-
tations were broadcasted throughout
Connecticut and reached several
thousand Jewish residents in the
state.
The Victory Jubilee proved of
deep interest to the Jews of Con-
necticut, as a cash contribution of
the entire original quota has never
before occurred in and great charity.
At this meeting there were many
notable speakers and Governor Lake
gave the address of welcome, it being
New England's greatest and most
historic Jewish gathering.
