Featuring the works of Jews in
many lands, the second annual exhi-
bition given under the direction of the
United Jewish Charities and the De-
troit Department of Recreation, open-
ed Sunday afternoon at the Jewish
Institute on a scale never before at-
tempted in this city.
The feature articles exhibited are
the works of Jewish artists in Pales-
tine, particularly those produced at
the Rezak! Art School and the Mar-
Jodie Carpet Works. Interesting por-
traits and statues by well-known Jew-
ish artists, including a number of
Detreiters, are attracting much at-
tention.
A number of Bezalel artplaques
hammered and carved by Prof. Boris
Schatz himself, are winning the ad-
miration of those attending the ex-
hibit. The Synagogue," The Re.
pentant" and "Jeremiah" are three of
the plaques that are of particular in-
terest.

AIIUM SOKOLOW—a Jew with-

is nevertheless at present the most
recognized, the most popular name
amongst all classes of Jewry through-

The name of Nahum Sokolow indi-

national work in the fullest and in
the richest meaning of the term.

jumped up or been pulled up the high-

But Nahum Sokolov.' has reached
the highest stage of Jewish leader-
ship, of a leader peer excellence not
through blind opportunity, or incom-
prehensible, historical whims, but ow-
ing to his natural, intrinsic qualities,
to his abilities, to his genius. Logi-
cally, step by step, curve by curve,
has Sokolow been climbing to the pin-
nacle, which he now holds firmly, car-

winds.
It is difficult to point to any states-

Paterson gathered hundreds of
Jewish young fellows who had fled
the Turks in order to escape their
cruelties and were anxious to join the
ranks of the British in an effort to
repay the Turks for the sufferings
imposed by them upon their kin in
Palestine. Ile organized what was
officially known afterward as the Zion
Mule Corps and took them over to
Gallipoli. The manner In which these
boys acquitted themselves now forms
a proud chapter in Jewish history. On
arrival in Gallipoli, General Hamilton
offered Paterson an important post,
