Gathering." There will be no charge.,
Mrs. Wallace Itosenheim, the presi-
dent, and the board of directors of
the Auxiliary are extremely anxious'
that the affair should he largely at-
tended, because a special effort will
be made to have the purpose of the
gathering carried out; that is, that
the women will become acquainted.
A splendid musical program has been
arranged.

"My knowledge of low price motor cars assures
me that our plan will enable us to build a
modern motor car that will successfully com-
pete with the world."
Frank L. Klingensmith
Frank L. Klingensmith had one thought in mind when he resigned as Vice-President and Treasurer
of the Ford-Motor Company. That thought was to produce a really modern car in the $500 class.
Statistics prove that there is a demand for at least 1,500,000 low-priced cars each year. That de-
mand is increasing—there is existing today an exceptional demand for a car of low-cost that
combines refinement and up-to-date engineering features.
The Gray Car will be built to satisfy this demand and the Gray plan of production and distribution
will make it possible to put such a car on the market at this price.
Frank F. Beall, who is associated with Mr. Klingensmith as Vice-President and General Manager
of the Gray Motor Corporation, has put into this new car over twenty years of experience. Mr.
Beall was in charge of Production at Brown & Sharpe, and Vice-President in charge of Production
at the Packard Motor Car Company. Mr. Beall's name alone is a guarantee of the best results
obtainable from a standpoint of production engineering.

RICHARD STRAUSS
MAKES HIS LOCAL
APPEARANCE NOV. 7
A man of prodigious talents, of
striking personality, Richard Strauss
stands today RS the most imposing fig-
ure in the musical horizon. With as
keen a vision of the future as had his
great predecessor, Wagner, he has be-
gun a new epoch in musical develop-
ment with a vast and far-reaching in-
fluence Dr, Strauss will appear here
lm November 7 at Orchestra Hall with
the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.
of R ichard
The achievements
Strauss have come to be such a by-
word that the layman is almost as
well acquainted with his genius as the
music lover. Born in NIunich in 1101t,
at the age of six he h a d written it
three-part song to which his mother
added the words as he had learned to
( maltose before he could form letters.
At school he wrote a symphony that
was performed when he was seventeen.
Besides his remarkable creative abil-
ity, his powers as an interpreter were
such that at a very youthful age he
was chosen to succeed Von Bulow as
conductor of the ducal orchestra at
Meiningen, and now for nearly forty
years his career as n director of or-
chestras has been almost equally fa-
mous as that of composer. A pro-
lific creator he has worked unceasingly
and produced, besides numerous sym-
phonies, operas and selections for
nearly every instrument, it varied list
of chorals, anthems and practically
every combination for voice and in-
strument.
During the forthcoming tour, Dr.
Strauss will be heard not only in or-
chestral concerts, but also in a series
of "Strauss Evenings" which will be
devoted entirely to his own composi-
tions presented by a vocal interpreter
and Dr. Strauss himself at the piano.
Claire Dux and Elizabeth Schumann
will appear in these recitals which will
be "concerts in times," bringing the
great composer into a close, personal
touch with the audience and present-
ng under ideal conditions many new
compositions not heard before, a rare
pportunity for the music lover.

The Gray Plan
Men heading the Gray Motor Corporation have had
years of experience in the field of low-priced cars.
They know that parts manufacturers are capitalized
and equipped to compete for the business of motor car
manufacturers. They know that parts can be bought
in the open market at a minimum cost. They know,
front experience, that they can produce 150 cars a day
almost as economically as 500.
All motors will be built by the Gray Motor Corpora-
tion. There will be assembling plants for Gray Cars
in ten or twelve different cities. Parts will be shipped
directly to these cities, thereby saving about two-
thirds the ordinary cost of freight.
The Gray Car will have 100-inch wheelbase. It will
have a modern four-cylinder motor—a mileage of 25
miles per gallon—transmission of sliding gear type—
improved spring suspension—ventilating windshield
—self-starter—and demountable rims. It will be built
of alloy steel, insuring strength and light weight.
That the Gray Car will be all that can be asked for in
a car of this class from a standpoint of appearance,
desirability and performance can simply be taken for
granted.
The Money
The Gray Motor Corporation owns and operates a big,
modern plant which is now producing the Gray-Beall
motor and working on special contracts on several
other projects.
