SEASON'S GREETINGS

But oh! 'twas hard to have her go,—
lo know
Day after day must pass without one
sight
Of her who was so dear, so dear! to
pine,
And sigh, and long for one kiss; one
sound
Of that softcliee, to us no sweet;
One glance of those dear eyes we
loved to eet.

Announces the opening of his new dental office, where he will
pleased to welcome all his friends and acquaintances.

RABBI JACOB BIENENFELD

Clinton High School, the College o f
the City of New York and the Law
School of the same university.
He received his religious training
under the direction of his father, the
late Dr. Henry L. Bienenfeld, Rabbi
Joshua Siegel (Shepsa Roy) and Rab-
bi 51. Guzik (Mockova Rov). Ile was
ordained in 1916 and received com-
plete ordination in 1919, when he took
the pulpit of the Bronx Congregation
in New York City.
Rabbi Bienenfeld has always been
active in Jewish social and educational
circles. He had charge of the Jewish
educational work in the Y. M. II. A.
of New York City and of the principal
Talmud Torah in that city.
Ile was one of the organizers of the
Tserai Adath B'nai Israel, an ad-
vancement society of Jewish young
men, and a leader of various Jewish
literary organizations.
In the year of his ministry in this
city, the membership of Congregation
Emanuel has trebled. A Talmud
Torah and Sunday School, a Sister-
hood and a Young Folks' League have
been organized and all are under way
and gaining strength daily. The
congregation is planning a permanent
house of worship to be built in the
near future.
"My belief is," Rabbi Bienefeld de-
clares, "that the synagogue should be,
beside the religious center, the com-
munity, social and educational center
as well. We hope to build up a com-
munity center that will adequately
meet the needs of Jewry in our section
of the city."
Rabbi Bienenfeld believes that cen-
ters of this type are the solution of
many of the Jewish problems of to-
day. "The time is coming," the Rabbi
said, "when Jewry at large will recog-
nize the need of these centres.
Detroit offers unlimited possibili-
ties in this direction, Rabbi Bienenfeld
declares, as he believes its religious
advancement has not been in propor-
tion to its growth.
Rabbi Bienefeld expressed his grati-
tude to Detroit Jewry for the un-
stinted co-operation and helpfulness
shown him during his year of resi-
dence in this city.
