ANOTHER RECORD!

The inborn Ilebrew craving
for learning once more mani-
fested itself this summer in the
studiousness of the Jewish chil-
dren of this city.
A survey of the summer
school attendance revealed some
startling figures concerning the
ambition of the Jewish youth.
Of a total summer grade and
high school attendance of 5,850,
there were 3,450 Jewish boys
and girls, or fully 59 per cent
of the total school attendance
was Jewish. The percentage of
the Jewish population of De-
troit is estimated at less than
10 per cent.
The record attendance for
Jewish pupils was that at the
Garfield school, where 800 of
1,000 in attendance were Jew-
ish. Northern High School was
a close second, with 700 of the
900 being Jewish pupils.
