PRESIDENT HARDING
NOT GUEST OF FORD

Secretary Christian Issues Statement
Concerning Camping Trip.

W A S HINGTON. — (J. T. A.) —
President Harding's private secretary,
Mr. Christian, replying to a Jewish
protest against the action of the Pres-
ident in accepting Ilenry Ford's in-
vitation to camp together for a lim-
ited period, has stated that Harding
was not Ford's guest but that he was
visiting the same place where Mr.
Ford was camping.
The Yiddish newspapers, notably
the Jewish Daily News, rejoice at this
statement, which takes cognizance of
the view of American Jewry and re-
moves what was loowed upon as an
affront to Jews who consider that the
highest official of the coutnry ought
not to accept the hospitality of a man
who has insulted 3,000,000 citizens
of the United States and made con-
sistent attempts to blacken the Jewish
name.
The statement of the President's
secretary is in itself proof that for
the President to have accepted Ford's
invitation would have been improper.
