Caruso's Death.

The saddest thought in connection with the death of Caruso
is that it was absolutely preventible. This most wonderful of
singers could control the muscles of his throat but could not
control his appetite. He reached Italy in good health, but
refused to follow the diet which the doctors had advised. Thus
thousands of people, who found inspiration in his singing, are
the poorer for his passing. What a pity that he would not
submit to his doctor's discipline. We almost rebel at his need-
less translation so early in life.
