A society has been formed at Munich under the name of "Gnosis," the
object of which is, by popular lectures, to find points of unity between the
various denominations, The lecture of the series on "Judaism in Relation
to World Culture," given by Rabbi Dr. Baer•ald, noun marked by disgraceful
uproar on the part of youthful anti-Semites. They broke into the lecture
hall and attacked the Jews present with sticks, table legs and rubber piping.
The police had to be summoned to quell the disturbance. During the fol-

Dr. Oscar Kohn, Socialist deputy, addressed the Prussian Landtag
attacking the government for not having taken the proper precautions
against attacks on Eastern Jews in various parts of the province. Dr. Kohn
related an instance where German soldiers restrained interned Jews from
rescuing themselves from fire in their camp. Ile showed that only a small
percentage of East European Jews had actually migrated into Germany,
whereas the greatest part consisted of those who had been conscripted in
Poland, Galicia and elsewhere and forced, during the war, to come into
Germany and work in the munition factories. Dr. Kohn demanded an
immediate investigation of the situation. Minister Dominican, speaking for
the government, answered that the immigration of East European Jews
was a danger to the German Empire and that he considered their internment
