Dr. Lee K. Frankel, vice-president
of the Metropolitan Life Insurance
Company of New York, has assumed
personal charge of the Welfare Bur-
eau set up in the Post Office Depart-
ment to improve the spirit of the .100,-
0(00 men and women postal workers.
Dr. Frankel, it was announced, has
accepted Government service for an
indefinite period without salary. He
arrived in Washington last Monday
and immediately went to work attack-
ing his new and huge task.
In answer to a request to the Post-
master-General fur a statement on
Dr. Frankel's appointment, the fol-
lowing announcement was made:

not even made a suggestion as to the
nature of his work. Ile has unlimit-
ed authority to organize the work as

tional Council had made no request
for such recognition on the part of
the Colonial Office and the move came

quests from the High Commissioner.
