"Oh save the Scroll; (1h save the Ark!"
A voice rang 'midst the blast,
And phantom-like they cleaved the dark,
To yield their lives at last.
And specters came and specters went.
And denser grew the throng;
The fates decreed, the heavens rent
Their fury on K'ai Flung.
All over the country it occu-
pies the same high place in
the appreciation of active
women.
No matter what the function,
there is always the long lineup
of Dodge Brothers Sedans.
The flood had passed, a ray of light
Pierced through the leaden clouds;
The ‘% alls were razed and over night
The waters bore but shrouds.
The House of Cod, its gilded dome
Lappcd up the gurgling waves,
And corpses circled in the foam
To find their waCry graves.
The gasoline consumption is unusually loot
The new day dawned, the land lay dry,
The shrine was swept away;
And bright the sun and clear the sky
Smiled down upon Cathay.
Lo, yonder where the Ark still loomed
A lifeless body stood;
His clammy hands still clasped the scroll,
Whose raiments like a hood
Lay damp and loose upon his brow,
And kissed his pallid cheek.
Within its sheaths, unfolded low,
His right hung limp and meek
And pointed to yon sacred shrine
"Israel, the Lord is One."
It read—,just one momentous line * * "

HOW THE SUPER-SIX
USED CAR BARGAINS
ELIMINATES VIBRATION
FOLLOW AUTO CUTS
"The connection between the new
car price reductions and used car
values and prices is not generally
realized by many motorists," says R.
II. Williams of Williams & Hastings,
Inc.
"For instance, the $200 reduction
on the Ilupmobile price has not only
increased the value that the pur-
chaser of a new car gets, but enables
us to dispose of a number of used
cars at very attractive figures, based
on the new Ilupmobile price. •
The scores of sales made in the
last week have given us a stock of
cars—many of them Hutomobiles-
which are all bargains to buyers look-
ing for good used cars, since these
cars were turned in on the wonderful
value now offered by the Ilupmobile
at its new price."

"1 find that while most people rec-
ognize the consistent excellence with
which all Super-Sixes perform, the
chief reason for it is not so well un-
derstood,"
," says Mr. Walter Bemb,
Bemb-R
Co., local Hudson-
Essex distributors.
The reason lies in the patented
Hudson motor. It cecounts for all
Hudson's gupremacies. Men talk of
the smoothness and ease with which
it accomplishes every obligation.

the same confidence they hold in the
reliability of the finest watch.
"It is all because the exclusive
Super-Six principle frees the motor
of vibration to such an extent that
its new car smoothness is retained
through, long life.
That is no clearly shown in the
sort of service earlier models every-
where are giving. Owners of these
older Iludsons know that after years
of duty their Super-Sixes are still
giving a character of performance
that many new and costlier cars ore
incapable of."

60 000 JEWS PLACED
ON FARMS IN U. S.
Jewish Agricultural and Indus-
trial Aid Society Reports
on Its Program.
NEW YORK.—The annual report
of the Jewish Agricultural and In-
dustrial Aid Society discloses the fact
that there is a Jewish farm popula-
tion of 50,000 persons throughout
the country tilling more than 1,0011-
000 acres. This growth is phenomi-
nal, when it it remembered that the
Jewish "back-to-the-soil" movement
began less than awn decades ago.
In the growth of this movement
the Jewish Agricultural and Indus-
trial Aid Society is playing an imo
portant part. Established in 1900.
as a branch of the Baron de Hirsch
Fund, this society during last year
found farms for 171 applicants. To
place these farmers a careful exami-
nation of 550 farms in 10 different
states of the East and Middle West
was necessary.
The society's farm labor bureau
gives to a constantly growing group
of young Jewish men the opportunity
to work on farms, and has since its
establishment obtained positions for
nearly 12,000 men. During the last
year 1,11011 men were placed. Many a
Jewish immigrant is thus enabled
to obtain a practical farm training,
and according to the report is thus
enabled to decide definitely whether
or not he wants to make farming his
life work.
The loan department of the society
since its organization has granted
over $3,176,000 in loans, covering 37
states. This department's aim is to
aid the prospective farmer in the fi-
nancing of 'the purchase of a farm,
to aid the already established farmer
to finance the operation of the farm,'
to purchase equipment, to erect and
repair buildings and to pay off mort-
gages and (other debts. The loans
are made on substantial securities
rind the repayment is spread over a
long term of years.
The extension department of the
society is always in the forefront
of progressive movements in Amer•
icon agriculture, and maintains a
staff of Jewish agricultural experts.
These, by a system of itinerant in-
struction, bring to the farmer the
latest scientific knowledge bearing in
farm work. During tie year these
experts made 1,300 visits in 6-1 com-
inanities, and held 135 demonstra-
'toms, meetings, field days and far-
mers institutes.
The society's sanitation bureau
conduceted an intensive rural health
campaign toward better sewage and
refuse disposal, as well as fly preven.
Lion and food protection. This cam-
paign is now having marked effects.
Another phase of the society's work
is to award free scholarships to the
sons and daughters of the Je vish
farmers, enabling these young peo-
ple to attend the various state agri-
cultural colleges, and in addition it
grants loans to students. A paper,
The Jewish Farmer, is published, and
is read by all the Jewish tillers in the
United States and Canada in touch
with the society.
