The new recreation pavilion which the Jewish Charitable and Educa-
tional Association of New Orleans, La., has just completed in Bay St. Louis

from Henry Bernstein of the theatre Gymnase in Paris dating from June 1
to February next. There was a question of presenting his medical problem
play, "Le Caducee," with Harry Bauer, but difficulties seem to be in the

At a bye-election for city councillor, of New Castle, England, Mr. M.
Turner Samuels, solicitor, was elected by a majority of nearly 500. Mr.
Samuels is a member of of a local family who have for years taken an ac-
tive interest in all communal matters, his grandfather having been president
of the Leazes Park Road Synagogue.

Morris Steinberg, a noted Yiddish actor, died at the Tubercular Hos-
pital in San Bernardino, Calif., which is maintained by the Yiddish The-
atrical Alliance, Inc. Steinberg had played all over the country, chiefly in
New York and Chicago, with Yiddish stock companies, and was well known
among the Yiddish thespians. He was 40 years of age.
