NEW YORK.—Judge Julian W.
Mack, president of the Zionist Or-
ganization of America, has been
asked to resign unless he recalls the
Palestine Donation Fund started in
opposition to the Keren Ilayesod, the
official fund of the World Zionist Or-
ganization, which was recently start-
ed by proclamation of Dr. Chaim
Weizmann, president of the interna-
tional body.
The letter to Judge Mack was sent
as the result of a meeting of Chair-
men of the district organization of
New York held at the Central Jewish
Institute Thursday night at which
Judge Mack was charged with insin-
cerity, and "betrayal of the Zionists
of America." The meeting empha-
sized the growing split which has
caused apprehension among Zionists
that the entire movement may lose
momentum.

ing, succeeding Councilman D. W.
Simons. I. Shetzer was elected vice-
president and Louis Smith treasurer.
Councilman Simons was president
of the Sheen!), Zedek for 11 years,
but refused to accept the office for
a twelfth term. Last New Year's day
he publicly announced to the congre-
gation that he would not again ac-
cept the office. The result was that
the office could not be filled at the
regular elections that were to be
held at that time, no candidate hav-
ing been available.
Mr. Wetsman, who was chosen to
fill the office of president after it
had been vacant for about six
months, told of plans he had on be-
half of the Shaarey Zedek Congrega-
tion to build a $250,000 community
building in the North Woodward dis-
trict. Mr. Wetsman said that the
main purpose of the planned building
would be to establish a large audi-
torium and to enlarge the Hebrew
school.
