NEW YORK—The Hebrew Shel-
tering and Immigrant Aid Society of
America has made all preparations
for the proper observance by immi-
grants of the Festival of Passover,
which begins on the evening of
April 23.
There will be Sedorim in the New
York home of the society and at the
Immigration stations in the cities
whore the society has branches,
namely, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago,
Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle,
Open house will be the rule for the
whole week of Passover. At Ellis
Island there will be Sedorim for de -
tained immigrants.
• In view of the quarantine regpla-
tions in force, arrangements have
been made whereby all Jewish immi-
grants who will be quarantined dor-
ing Passover, on steamships and at
quarantine stations, will be provided
with special Passover food and Se-
dorim will be given for them as well.
It will readily be understood that
all this will entail large expenditures
, and these, in addition to the heavy
burdens the society is already bear-
' mg, makes it imperative that the
fullest support be given to it.

I'lowing is in full swing in Palestine since the first rainfall, and large
tracts of land which lay fallow for years are now under cultivation. This
is partly due to the fact that a new government ordinance declares that
uncultivated lands may be confiscated. The work is largely done this
year by means of tractors, a number of which were imported into Pales-
