to be given to the members of the
Detroit Symphony Orchestra by the
Young People's Society on Sunday
evening, Feb. 27. Preparations are be-
ing made to accommodate a very large
attendance. An entertainment pro-
gram of 0 diversified nature will be
presented, including the third of a
series of one-act sketches, entitled
"The Noble Lord." to be enacted by
Rose Benjamin. Marvin Jacobs and
Nianitie Stein.
On the occasion of this testimonial
reception, two orchestras have been
engaged, and dancing will take place
in the gymnasium as well as the vestry
rooms. Refreshments will be served.
It is expected that members of the
Temple Beth El will take advantage
of this opportunity to assist in enter-
taining the members of the Symphony
Orchestra. Activities will start as
J1:30. Y. P. S. members are requested

the door, while written invitations

The House of Shelter, which now
has a membership of 500. is headed

Ilielfield has been president of the
organization for the past 15 years,
and is devoting his time to the ad-
vancement of the cause for which it
was organized. Much of the success
is due to him.
The organization thin week sent out
sn appeal for financial support that
the work may lie continued through
the present crisis. As a result of un-
employment, anplications for help
hove considerably increased, and con-
•elblitions which would enable the

HEBREW HOSPITAL BALL
THIS SUNDAY EVENING

Tht• fifth annual informal ball given
for the benefit of the Hebrew Hos-
pital association will be held at the
Majestic Institute of Dancing, Wood-
ward and Watson, this Sunday eve-
ning. Feb. 20. Several thousand.
tickets have been sold and it is ex-
pected that all previous records for
attendance will he broken.
Due to the war, the association has
been inactive for the past few yearn,
but is now, according to the chair-
man of affairs, Mr. Marcus Katz, pre-
paring to break ground by the first
of June, with the aid expected to de.'
rive from the proceeds of the ball
and the connibutions expected from
leading Detroit Jews.
The hospital site on the corner of
Ilendrie and St. Antoine streets is
all paid for 'and architectural plans
have already been decided upon by
the convince in charge. According
to Dr. \V. L. Babcock, of Grace Hos-
pital, who has looked over these
plans, the hospital will be one of the
most up-to-date in this part of the

The Amitian held their weekly
meeting at the home of Miss Sylva
Rosenberg, 150 Frederick avenue.
Plans were completed for their dance
to he held this year on Mardi 4th
at the Odd Fellow - 5 Temple.
A delightful luncheon followed the
adjournment of the business meeting
and during the evening several vocal
selections were rendered by Miss
Rosenberg accompanied by Miss
