LONDON — Sir Alfred Mond, the
noted British financier, and Professor
Chaim NVeizmann, leader of the Zion-
ist movement, were given a public
welcome by the Jews of Jerusalem,
according to a dispatch from that city.
The meeting was arranged by the
Jewish Council of Jerusalem and the
speakers included Chief Rabbi Kook.
Rabbi Meyer, David Mellin, the head
of the Jewish Conmtunity in Jeru-
salem and M. NI. Ussasshkin, the head
of the Zionist Commission in l'ales-
tine.
In acknowledging the cordial recep-
tion given him in Palestine, Sir Al-
fred blond declared that Palestine
held great possibilities and that there
was now no power on earth which
could hinder the Jews from building
there a national home. The difficulties,
he said, were relatively small and men
of vast influence, wealth and experi-
ence in state-building are coming to
the assistance of the Jews. Mond
emphasized that Palestine had ample
roots for a Jewish home as well as
an Arab commonwealth. Dr. Weis.
mann, in the course of an address,
stated that the present crisis in Zion-
ism was only psychological and would
pass quickly. blond, he stated, today
bore a full measure of responsibility
for all Zionist work. blond and Weiz-
mann, the dispatch says, are leaving
Jerusalem for a visit to the Jewish
colonies.
