Nliss Bertha Slomovitz, who was
until recently an organizer and leader
in Detroit Young Judaea, was in
charge of the Roses of Zion, at their
meeting last Sunday, in the absence
of the regular leader of the circle,
Miss Blurna Slomovitz. The feature
of this meeting was the presentation
of the three act Chanukah play writ-
ten by bliss Slomovitz. Rose Duchin
is at present the president of the
Roses of Zion.

The Tikvas Zion, at their last meet-
ing• made a study of the life of Mor-
decai 0. Noah. the first American
Zionist. Miss Tillie Friedman re-
viewed the works of Noah. A gen-
eral discussion then followed by the
members. A humorous Chanukah
story by Sholom Aleichem, "The
Spinning Top," was also read at this
meeting.

Mr. David Racoosin formally took
charge of the Maccabees of Judaea
as their leader at their meeting last
Sunday. Arthur Wendell was elected
president for the ensuing term. Mr.
Racoosin delivered a tine talk on the
duties of Young Judaeans in striving
with their elders for the rebuilding
of l'alestine as a Jewish homeland.
Mr. Racoosin has won the confidence
of the Maccabees, and promises to
become one of the most successful
leaders in the city.

The Defenders of the White and
Blue, at their meeting last Saturday
evening, chose Isidore Levin, Barney
Jaroslow and Leonard Milling to rep-
resent this circle in their debate with
the Judaean Dramatic Club on the
topic, "Resolved that Yochanan ben
Zakkai was a traitor." The De-
fenders will uphold the affirmative
side in the debate. Nfr. Herbert Par-
zen is leader of the Defenders. Miss
Sylvia Goldsmith leads the circle that
is to oppose the Defenders in this
debate.

Flag Day.

Young Judeans are anxiously look-
ing forward to the Seventh Annual
Flag Day, to sake place on Dee. 12.
It is expected that at least 150 De-
troit Young Judaeans will be formed
into committees to canvass for funds
for the Jewish National Fund.
