skidding due tb having one brake act
more quickly than the other will
probably be interested in
that a means of avoiding this annoy-
ance and danger has been developed.
At present, it is found in mile the
LaFayette. which is handled 'locally
by C. E. Hathaway, who explains the
device as follows:
"The LaFayette's brake equalizing
differential is mounted on the rear of
the transmission and operate; on the
same principle as the rear axle differ-
ential. It is completely enclosed,
trouble-proof and ensures unparal-
leled positiveness and equality of
brake operation on both rear wheels
and in both sets of brakes.
"The result is the elitninating of
skidding, materially increasing 1170
safety of operation. Largely as a re-
sult of the fact that the brake rods
fulcrum at a common center wi , 11 the
torque tube, the LaFayette driver
does not experience that chattering of
brake bands and drumming of rear
wheels on earth when the car is
brought to a quick, smooth stop."

pioneered the high speed multiple
cylinder engine in this country.
