CHRONICLE WANT ADS PAY

In the
Ranks of
Young Judaea.

One of the interesting features of
the educational work among the De-
troit Jewish youth is the campaign
that is being conducted for the ad-
vancement of the Hebrew language.
The most successful Hebrew classes
so far organized are those of the
Tikvas Zion, the west end group that
has distinguished itself on previous
occasions with its activities in He-
brew.
The success of Hebrew among the
Tikvas Zion is especially due to Mr.
N. Croll, one of the local Hebrew
teachers, who is giving his time in
teaching an advanced class. In addi-
tion to this class a class for beginners
has been formed with Miss Eva Croll
in charge.
Knights of Judea.
The latest circle to follow the ex-
ample of the Tikvas Zion is the
Knights of Judaea. Mr. Lipshitz, one
of the Hebrew teachers of the north-
ern district, has volunteered to teach
an advanced class, and classes will be
begun next Sunday to include all the
members of the Knights of Judaea,
several of the leaders and a number
of tnembers of the Daughters of the
White and Blue.
Defenders to Assist J. N. F.
One of the notable examples of
loyalty to the Zionist movement
among the local Judaeans is the de-
cision of the members of the De-
fenders of Zion, of which Mr. Sol
Lipshitz is leader, to collect a sum of
money for the Jewish National Fund.
The members resolved to save one
cent a day each for the Fund. thereby
assuring a fair contribution from this
circle. It is expected that other cir-
cles will follow their example.
Libraries in Young Judaea.
Beginning with the week of Chanu-
kah, at least a majority of the local
Young Judaea clubs will have formed
club libraries. The latest to buy a
series of Jewish books for the use of
their members are the Forget-Me-
Nuts of Zion, Knights of Judaea, De-
fenders of the White and Blue and
the Defenders of Zion. An inter-
change of books among clubs will
also be inaugurated in the very near
future, so that there may be little
duplication of books. Thus, after
the books purchased by a circle have
been read by all the members, they
will be interchanged with other cir-
cles, so that circles may derive a dou-
ble benefit from the funds invested in
libraries.

STARS OF JUDAEANS

The "Stars of Judaeans", under the
leadership of Mr. Samuel Lehman
are now meeting regularly every Sun-
day afternoon at the Delmar St.
Synagogue. Mr. Lehman is putting
every effort to Increase its member-
ship and a committee was appointed
to work In that direction: Flans are
under Wily for • Hanukah and an-
niversary celebration.
The present officers are: Sam Stein,
president; Albert Sharfman, vice-pres-
ident; Morris Druen, secretary and
treasurer; Abe Bensman, sergeant at
arms.
