Liberty Speed Flexibility.

"A new record for flexibility of
speed has been set by the Liberty

changes in speed could be accom-

Haynes Holds Price Level.

Haynes Automobile company of
Kokomo, Ind., will adhere for the
present, to list prices prevailing since
the introduction of the present mod-
els. This decision was reached after
consideration of the problems con-
fronting the industry al this time.
and was adopted as a means of co-
operation with other manufacturers
who are striving to stabilize prices
for the benefit of the country.
In making public the course to he
pursued by the company, Air. A. G.
Seiherling, vice president and general
manager, said: "We were forced In
choose between foregoing a legitimate
profit on our product until such time
as materials and other factors of cost
decrease in proportion, or of curtail-
ing or postponing the program for
car betterment now under way.
"These improvements and refine-
ments involve greater expenditime on
our part, the natural effect of which
is necessarily increased price. This
we were confident, would be thor-
oughly justified by the result. We
were convinced that the public, re-
cognizing the value of the improved
features would willingly pay the ad-
ditional price.
"We have announced to *all our
distributors and dealers that we will
guarantee our prices against decreases
before July 1, 1921, and will protect
them from loss should the unexpect-
ed introduction of lower material and
production costs make a price reduc-
tion possible."

Coincident with this increase of
output is the addition of over 200

From

English, Arabic and Hebrew are
recognized as the official languages
of Palesttne. All government ordi-
nances, official notices and forms will
he published in these languages. Cor-
respondence may be addressed to
any government department in any
one of these languages. Correspond-
ence will be issued from government
departments in whichever language
is practically convenient. Telegrams
may be sent in any of the three lan-
guages. All railway and road notices
will be in the three languages.
In municipal and rural areas, where
there is a considerable Jewish popu-
lation, the three languages will be
used in the offices of the district and
subdistrict governors, of the munici
palities, and of other official bodies
in the same manner as in the govern
molt departments. Such districts will
be termed Tri-Lingual Areas. They
will be specified by the high coin
nfssioner. The present Tri.Lingual
Areas are: Jerusalem city, Jaffa
town and district, sub-districts of
Tiberias and Sated, Ramleit town and
sub-district, Haifa town, Zimmarin
sob-district. Other areas may h
added from time to time, the guiding
principle being the presence of a pro-
portion of not less than 20 per cent
of Jews in the population of the area
The official announcement provides
that in the courts of law and land
registries of a Tri-Lingual area every
process, every official copy of a judg•

shall be issued in the language of the
Person to whom it is addressed. and
written and oral pleadings shall be
conducted in any of the three lan-
guages.
The government, it it reported, is
sending its official translations to (In

the center, and in Hebrew, with the
addition of the initials of "Erez
Israel" at the bottom.

Some of the alterations and im-
provements in the developments of
Palestine railways promised by the
high commissioner have commenced.
So far the railway administration has
not obtained any financial assistance
from the war office, the railways hav-
ing paid for themselves. Nor has it
received any aid from Egypt. On
the contrary, old carriages are sent,
for which high prices are asked.' The
boundary between the Egyptian and
Palestine railways will be at Rata.
The railways administration has
commenced the repair of the Haifa-
Ludd line. In 'order to reorganize
the whole Palestine railways L200,-
000 is required. ,The..;high commis-
sioner hopes to raise ,a loan. The
broadening of the new Ludd-Jaffa
line has commenced. The line will
pass either behind Tel-Aviv or
through the center of the town. In
the latter case a number of houses
will have to he demolished.
Petach-Tikvah has asked to he con-
nected with Jaffa. This would cost
LE 800,000. Colonel Holmes, the
traffic manager, therefore proposes to
connect Petach-Tikva with Ras-el-En
station, which would cost LE.18,000.
lie also spoke of a iunetion between
Rishon-le-Zion and Bir-Salem.
Colonel Holmes, who is the mili-
tary suerintendent of railway traffic
in Egypt, Palestine and Syria, will
resign his military post after the con-
clusion of peace with Turkey to serve
as general manager of the Palestine
railways.
