"The International Jew, The New
World Menace"
An Address Based on Articles Appearing in "The Dearborn Inde-
pendent" Given in St. Paul's Episcopal Charch, on Sunday
Evening, Oct. 24, 1920, by the Rev.
J. Bradford Pengelly.
The reasons for giving this address
tonight are:
First. A violent and unfair attack
has been made upon a whole race
composed of millions of people scat-
tered over the entire world. An in-
ternational problem of a racial char-
acter has been thrust upon us. We
must study it carefully and fairly.
Second. A violent and unfair at-
tack is being made upon millions of
American citizens who are of Jewish
blood and who have always had the
reputation of being good citizens.
Here is a great American problem
demanding our fair attention
Third. Charges are made here that
introduce both national and interna-
tional probelms of many kinds. viz,
international racial relations, inter-
national finance and commerce, inter-
national intellectualism, international
agitation, socialism and bolshevism.
We must know something about these
questions for they are the mightiest
problems of our day. Is it fair to
accuse the Jew of being at the bot-
tom of all the unrest in the world?
Is he the cause of the national yearn-
ings of Ireland, Egypt and India or
are the people of those countries re-
sponsible? Is some Jew telling the
British miners what to do? Has that
strong Scotehman Robt. Smillie been
simply a dummy? Well, hardly. Is
MacSwiney the hunger striking Irish-
man a Jew?
Fourth. These charges throw open
not only the flood-gates of racial hat-
red but of religious hatred and strife.
Has the Jew ever been a persecutor
of other religions? Let us discuss
that problem fairly.
Fifth. Europe and Asia have been
the scenes very often of terrible anti-

semitic troubles. Do we want to in-
troduce Anti-Semiti5M into the U.
S. A.? This attack is the beginning
and if it is not checked, we shall
soon create a terrible problem in the
U. S.A. that never was here before
these articles appeared.
Sixth. Are Mr. Ford's sources of
information upon which he bases his
attacks reliable? Or is the whole
thing more or less of a frame-up?
Seventh. Another reason for these
two addresses is that I want to show
what real contributions the Jews have
made to the world despite the fact
that they have been more or less con-
stantly persecuted for 1900 years.
The Spirit of the Add
I shall speak to you as a student not
as a partisan. I have considerable
admiration for Mr. Ford as a manu-
facturer but not as a historian or in-
ternational leader. His ignorance
even of American history is amazing.
His ignorance of international affairs
is simply colossal
I also have considerable admiration
for the Jew. I have met Rabbi Hirsch
and Julius Rosenwald on several oc-
casions.
I frequently talked with
Rabbi Levi who was a student at the
University of Chicago with me. I
have attended reformed Synagogues
frequently. I am not so familiar
with the Orthodox Jew. You and I
know of many Jews both Orthodox
and Reformed who have made real
contributions to American Life. I
shall make no statements not found
in Mr. Ford's articles. I shall try
hard to be very fair.
The general theme under which we
can discuss this whole question is,

The Definite Charges.

1 am glad this has been finally settled.
Saw a picture in a paper recently
howin thc big Russian who killed
sfzar. 1 have read at least four au-
thentic accounts with authentic pic-
-k tures of the murder of the Tzar and
all the different persons in different
• places. It is good of the poor Tzar
to conic back to life so tnany times
in order to give so many different
persons the privilege and toy of kill-
ing him. I really think the Tzar will
be dead after a few more have killed
• hint. This story reminds me of the
excitement of the Irishman who just
beard that the Jews had killed Christ.
Sept. 18th, page 8. l'rotocol tells
how to elect and control ('residents
of Republics by Jews.
This is a
grand scheme.
Methods. (1). To
see that every Presidential nominee
is a man with a past and that he has
had an awful scandal in his personal
life or in his business affairs. All of
which is known to the Jews and which
they will expose if he will not let
them control him. This exposure
will be made by the newspapers which
are controlled chiefly by Jews.

(3). An example of the terror of
this propaganda is seen in the Sex
knowledge taught Gentiles who were
terribly corrupted. Idea of protocols
is to corrupt all Gentile youth so that
they will become degenerate and the
Jews will he physically and mentally
superior to rule the world. (4). The
fear of Jew is part of their propa-
ganda. The Jew want this fear to
exist. They really create anti-sem-
■ itism themselves for it frightens the
Gentiles and keeps the common Jew
in place.
Sir Oliver Lodge accuses Prof.

his book "Raymond" that the spirits

with a spiritual form of tobacco. If
that he so, every devout smoker can

The articles have been running in
"The Dearborn Independent" for
probably three months, reprints of
them are being published in pam-
phlet form. A new Edition compris-
ing all those published to date is on
the press now and will be on the mar-
ket soon at 25 cents per copy. The
whole business is supposed to have
had its origin in a book published in
Europe, no author's name given, en-
titled "Protocols of the Elders of
Zion." The idea behind these pro-
tocols is this: The wise Jews of the
world are showing the great mass
of Jews of the world how to get con-
trol of all Governments and power and
establish a Jewish domination of the
world with a Jewish King on a Jew-
ish throne in the ancient Jewish city
of Jerusalem. This whole scheme or
world plot has been exposed in a
book called, "The Jewish Peril,"
which has been translated into many
languages by the enemies of the Jews.
Now it is chiefly from this work that
the Dearborn Independent gets its
information. Of course it gathers tiE
information from other sources sue
as "The Chicago Tribune" which is
not altogether a friend of llenry
Ford. Resides the leading articles
found in the issues of the Dearborn
Independent there are some notes at
the bottom of the page under the
title of "Jewish World Notes." These
are for the most part items from
many different sources.
