New York City has a Jewish Court of Arbitration which holds its sessions
in the Criminal Courts Building. The Court consists of three judges, one a
rabbi, one a business man and a judge of the local court as the presiding
justice, who at present is the Hon, Louis D. Gibbs, County Judge of Bronx
County. The cases in this court are brought by mutual consent and its
finding is final. The matters at issue are usually questions arising in con-
gregations and fraternal organizations. This court meets with the approval
of the judiciary, as it relieves the regular courts of much tedious, and usually
unimportant, work.
