As a sequel to this brave deed, Mayor John F. flylan, New York City, presented Abramson with a medal. This is the third United States Voluntary Life Saving Corps rn,/,1 which Abramson has been awarded. At the time of the rescue, Abramson was fully dressed in his military winter outfit. and result of a chill which he contracted from the plunge into the icy waters he has been permanently crippled. • • • 2i a Hon. Nathan Barnert, fe,tmer Mayor of Paterson, N. J, on August 3 presented the beautiful Asistand Homestead to the Daughters of Jacob, to be used as a home. Mr. Barnert bought the mansion. together with twenty- two city lots, for the Imrpose of making the presentation. Attorney-General McCrann, of New Jersey, made the presentation speech. At the meeting 810,000 was contribut ed for the upkeep of the home. Mr. Barnert several years ago prestnted the Barnert Memorial Temple to the Jews of Paterson. Rabbi Harry R.
