DETROIT BANK BLDG.
Supplies and materials for the erec-
tion of the First National bank build-
ing on the Hotel Pontchartrain site
are arriving in the city and active
work on the construction of the 24-
story hank and office building is
about to start, it was announced
NVednesday. The last vestiage of the
hotel structure will be cleared away

Work of preparing the foundation
progressed as rapidly as the receipt

wrecking of the former building. Four
of the huge caissons that will be sunk
down to bedrock have been started,
and in a few months, it is predicted,
the steel work will begin weaving its
spidery way above ground level. Ac-

structure will be completed, down to
the last coat of varnish on the in-
terior woodwork, before the end of
1921.
