The late I. W. Hellman. the California banker of San Francisco and Los
Angeles, bequeathed $100,600 to be distributed by the executors of his will

Britain a mandate over the Holy Land for the express purpose of establish-
ing a Jewish National Homeland there. is the adoption of a plan to organize
a co-operative society whose stockholders, at the beginning, will include
5.000 l'alestinian families. Ten thousand stockholders will be enlisted in the
United States in this tight against profiteering and to reduce the cost of

ent. Mr. Bernheim explained that he wished to present the statue to Louis-
ville in the hope that future generations might be inspired by the memory of

start upon a one-month tour of big cities in the United States to stimulate

The Jewish journalists and employes of the two newspapers, Tageblatt
and Folksblatt, which Appear in Lodz, have gone out on strike. Their de-
mands were for a 100 per cent raise in wages and an extra 30 per cent in-
crease for overtime.
At last reports the Nashville, Tenn., United 'I'. M. II. A., and Y. W. H .
A. strive has brought in $121,464 of the $175.000 asked for in the campaign.
Governor Roberts was present and made the opening speech of the cam-
paign. Among the largest givers was the Utopia Club, which subscribed
$5,000. The club is composed, for the most part, of young men who are just
starting upon their careers, and the $5,000 subscription represents a great
sacrifice.

recent meeting of the Glasgow. (Scotland) Education Authority. Inasmuch
