Rabbi lien Leab Raphaelson, 77
years old, a native of Poland. known
among scholars at a Talmudist and
Bible student, died April 20, at the
home of his son in Newport, Ky., as
the result of injuries received in an
automobile accident. For the past
three years Rabbi Raphaelson had
made his home with his daughter,
Mrs. I.ouis Frank of Adrian Mich.
Having received his education in
Poland, Rabbi Raphaelson travelled
extensively throughout Europe, com-
ing to America 28 years ago. He
chose to act merely as Hebrew teach-
er in Toledo and Cincinnati, where
he had at various times resided, never
caring to full a congregational pulpit.
Besides his widow, Rabbi Raphael-
son leaves two sons, Harry of Los
Angeles and Jacob Raphaelson, of
Newport, Ky., and three daughters,
Mrs. B. i.ubclsky of Toledo. Mrs.
Frank Bachrach and Mrs. Louis
