The Committee on Arrangements, headed by llarry Satovsky, is spar- ing no effort in making this annual event one not easily forgotten. A varied and interesting program of en- tertainment, to include brief "pep" talks, humorous readings, vocal and instrumeditl music, has been ar- ranged. Refreshmentsavill_lie served and the evening will afiti& hp with a dance. This "get-together" is arranged every year for the purpose of bring- ing together, informally, the mem- bers of the Auxiliary, of renewing old acquaintances and establishing new ones—of strengthening and deepening the spirit of fraternity among the members of the organ- ization. Members are cordially in- vited to come and to bring their friends. rences engaged the most anxious at- tention of the Joint Delegation. At every stage the promptest steps were taken to bring the appeals of the suffering Jews to the notice of the Peace Conference and of the repre- sentatives of the Polish, Ukrainian and Czecho-Slovak governments. Af- ter the military excesses reported from Pinsk and Vilna, Mr. Lucien Wolf and Mr. Louis Marshall strong- ly urged upyw,t-Ite British and United States delttAions, respectively, to 4 take measures for the protection of the Polish Jews, and instructions were promptly sent to the British and American Ministers in Warsaw to act in the sense suggested by the Jew- ish delegates. Similar appeals ad- dressed to Mr. Paderewski and Mr. Sydcrenko, the chiefs of the Polish and Ukrainian missions, met with a sympathetic response. Later on, when the American and British Commis- sions of Enquiry under hf r. Morgen- than and Sir Stuart Samuel were dis- patched to Poland, the Joint Delega- tion placed at their disposal much valuable information, and were other- wise privileged to contribute to the exhaustiveness of their investigations. Polish Medical Society Rejects Jews As Members Warsaw—The Medical Society here, at its last session, refused to admit a man to membership because he was a Jew. At the same session, another applicant for membership was rejected—although he claimed to he a Polish Christian—because his name appeared to be Jewish and it was feared that perhaps he was ac- tually a Jew. The Polish Socialist paper, which reports this occurrence, protests at the bringing of religious and politi- cal considerations into a purely sci- entific organization. It declares that the attitude shown by the Medical Society is all the more absurd, in view of the fact that 80 per cent of the articles printed in its official or- gan are written by Jews. A number of Jewesses of Belfast, Ireland, have formed the Belfast La- dies' Hebrew Studying Circle, for the purpose of studying the Hebrew lan- guage. Classes are held weekly. Prague.—The Federation of Jewish Women in Czecho-Slovakia is now holding its convention here. All the Jewish women's organizations in the country are represented. This body concerns itself with social and cul- tural interests and also takes up pure- ly political questions. The present Congress will determine the attitude of the Jewish women toward the va- rious political parties, and will con- sider ways and means of extending its sphere to cover larger problems in the Jewish world. • The Chief Rabbi was one of the guests of the Corporation of the City of London at the Guildhall on the occasion of the presentation of an address to President Poincare and at the subsequent luncheon. ^t-k.
