M., as well as all other Masonic lodges in the city, will hold no regu- lar meetings this week, during the great Masonic drive for funds to iIi make possible the erection of the beautiful new temple. Plans for the Temple have been drawn, and when completed will result in the most beautiful edifice of its kind in the country. The structure, which will be of simple and dignified Gothic design, will be situated on Bagg street, be- tween Second and Cass avenues. The plans which have been approved by the Building Committee of the Association spell the culmination of their efforts of the past three years. The final selection and adoption of the various plans and ideas presented a wealth of material that had to be combined in one organic whole, and its sub-divisions had to be so sepa- rated one from the other that coinci- dent activities would not clash. The proposed new building will cover 6,- 770,000 cubic feet, and will -be, accord- ing to Commander George \V. Graves, an architect famous for build- ing Masonic Temple, "A marvel of architectural skill." An intensive drive for funds will be carried on during the week among the Masons of this city. The suc- cess of this great undertaking will resolve itself, in a large degree, to personal contributions, and it is ex- pected that every brother of the Ma- MRS. A PROBLEM OF PROSPERITY D ETROIT, with the horn of plenty in her arms, is con- fronted by a telephone problem which you must help to solve. Its prosperity has not only created a demand for service which must be met, but has also brought about a service cost problem which, unaided, we cannot meet. The population is increasing tremendously; business is expanding at unprecedented rates. Everyone is doing more business and demanding more telephone service. We are being asked to enormously extend our facilities and to improve service at constantly increasing costs. It is our duty, as your servant, to build for your require- ments and to secure revenue to pay the increased costs of maintaining our service to such a point of efficiency that will make it of the greatest value to you. We will, from time to time, give you the facts so that you may cooperate with us in facing this imperative situation upon which Detroit's continuing prosperity in a large measure depends.
