On Friday evening, February 20, Rabbi A. M. Hershman will give the first of two lectures on the life and works of George Eliot, whose cen- tennial was celebrated November 22, 1919. One lecture will be given over exclusively to the discussion of Daniel Deronda." Of that famed work which evinces a profound and intimate knowledge of the inner life of the Jew, Prof. David Kaufman says, ''It is a Jewish book, not only in the sense that it treats of Jews, hut also in the sense that it is pre- eminently fitted for being understood and appreciated by Jews.
