DISTRIBUTES 5,000 BARRELS OF KOSHER MEAT TO POOR JEWS IN POLAND New York—More than 5,000 bar- rels of Kosher meat have been re- ceived and distributed to the poor Jews and the Jewish institutions of Poland during the month of January, the Joint Distribution Committee for American Funds for Jewish \Var Suf- ferers announced today. The meat was prepared in strict accordance with Jewish ritualistic requirements and was shipped from New York by the Joint Distribution Committee in December. It arrived at the Joint Distribution Committee's Headquar- ters in Warsaw in perfect condition, according to the report of the Jew- ish relief administrator there. The meat was packed in 5,046 bar- rel,. Prior to its distribution it was tested by experts in NVarsaw and found in excellent condition. The territory of Volinia, Lithuania and Galicia were found to be most needy and 4,625 barrels' were sent to towns in these sections. The city of \Var- saw received 421 barrels. No charge was made for the meat. Ilalf of it went to public institutions and the remainder to individuals— who in many cases had not tasted meat for five years.
