During the past week the market O
has somewhat recovered from the
spell of inactivity to which it was sub- 0
ject. during the last days of Decem-
ber. :Rotors, Public Utilities and
Sugar stocks are- in strong tifinane.
Among the motors, Continental and
Packard have been the favorites, shar- O
ing their popularity with Reo, Ford of
('amnia and Federal. American Light
Of Traction, Edison, Charcoal Iron and
Columbia and 311chigan Sugar have
also attracted considerable attention.
Money is again at a convenient
level, and best opinion is that until
the production of local Industries is
space with the demand for their pro-
(Picts, the local list will retain Its
present strength and tt gradually
strengthening market may confidently
be expected.

"Franklin" Proves Merit
On Coast to Coast Test

There is not very much about
transcontinental touring, with its
varying road conditions, cooling prob-
lems, tire troubles and other fortunes

and misfortunes that the average mo-
torist can tell E. D. Meade, of

time the water-cooled car did a little
better, making 11.3 miles per gallon.
The brothers decided they ought
to get better than that, so bought a
Franklin, and on the first jaunt made
18.6 miles per gallon. In addition to
that, the Franklin offered tire
troubles entirely negligible, the set
running 30,000 miles, including the
round trip to the Pacific. Two of the
tires had the original Connecticut air
in them when they were removed.
Small wonder that the two decided
to use the same Franklin for this
year's trip after such a record as that.
This year's gasoline mileage was 18.5
miles per gallon. The only tire
trouble came when the car picked up
two nails.

JAFFA.—The Co-operative Bank in
Jaffa (Kuppat Am) has received per-
mission to increase its capital to
10,000 pounds (from 5,000 pounds) and
will open a branch in Jerusalem. The
bank was only recently founded, and

has made excellent progress.

Taking the pulse
of your business

A business might be getting
along moderately well—but yet
there's a retarding factor some-
where; it is not making the pro-
gress that the prosperity of the
times warrants.

Perhaps some department is
not paying.

Only through analysis by an
organization skilled in systems
and accounting can stimulus be
given to the business pulse that
beats too slow.
