sumed on the fire.
Alasl Israel was so often forced to
lament the loss of saintly sons and
devout daughters; to shed floods of
tears on being bereaved of fragrant
flowers which were crushed in their
beautiful bloom by the iron hand of
hate, that not enough words were
left upon his languishing lips and not
enough tears remained in his weary
eyes to adequately mourn and weep
over the cruel fate of this dutiful
daughter, this yomig martyr of Mor-
occo. Alld if all the oceans were
tears and all the storms were sobs
would they be sufficient?

Practically simultaneously with Mayor Guizens' gift, came the an-
nouncement of Mr. Rockefeller's unprecedented gift to the cause of
medical science and of higher education. Princely giving of this char-
acter reassures its in these times when prevalent materialism and deep-
seated selfishness tend to shake our faith in human nature. Sordidness
and meanness are after all not as universal as some imagine. Gener-
osity and service arc the terms in which happiness at its highest spells
itself out, and fortunately, an ever-increasing number of men in every
community are learning this fact and living in accordance with it.
