The wedding of Mks Blanche
Newman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Ilarry Newman, of Chicago, and Al-
fred Hersh, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Jacob Ilersh, of this city, took place
at 5:30 o'clock Sunday, December 14,
in the East Room of the La Salle
Hotel, Chicago. Dr. Stoltz officiated.
Following the ceremony a reception
and dinner-dance were given for rela-
tives and a few close friends of the
bride and bridegroom. Miss Newman
wore a wedding gown of bridal satin I
with garniture of pearls, her veil be-1
ing held in place by a wreath of
orange blossoms worn by her grand-
mother. She carried a shower bou-
quet of white sweet peas and lilies
of the valley. She was attended by
her two wall nieces, Valerie Groak,
of Chicago, and Mildred Lkille Vass,1
of Detroit, as flower girls, by the

bridegroom's two sisters,
Annarose and Matilda Hersh, and her ,
own sister, Miss Ruth Newman, of I
Chicago, as bridesmaids. Frank Vass
served as best man. The ushers were •
Maurice Feigenbaum, of Detroit;
Joseph Arthur and Wney N ewman. I
After a honeymoon trip to Cleveland,'
New York and Atlantic City, Mr.
and Mrs. Hersh will reside in Buffalo,
where Mr. Hersh is engaged

in business.
The Detroit guests included Mr.
and Mrs. Jacob Hersh and slaughters,
Misses Annarose and M atilda, r.
and Mrs. Peter Vass and small daugh-
ters, Mildred and Florence, Mr. and
Mrs. Max S. Grossfeld, Frank Vass,
Maurice Feigenbaum.
Mr. Henry Shuman has left for an
extended trip through the eastern
states. He will spend the greater
part of his time in Buffalo, Boston
and New York.
Mr. and Mrs. Bratt announce the
marriage of their (laughter, Sadie, to
Samuel Bass, son of Mr. and Mrs. H.
Bass, of 220 Palmer avenue, to take
place on Sunday afternoon, January
4th, at 6 o'clock. Arrangements for
din g trip include a visit to

Niagara Falls, New York City and
H udson, Mass., the birthplace of the
groom.
Mr. Charles N. Agree is visiting in
Chicago, where he will remain until
the first of the year.
Miss Lillian Blumenthal of Hamilton,
Ont., is the guest of Miss Sadie Cam-
letter of Ferry avenue.
Mr. and Mrs. A. Rotter are visiting
their children, Mr. and Mrs. L. M.
Epstean and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Rob-
inson of this city.
Miss Tillie Sanburg of McKeesport,
Pa., is spending a few weeks with
her relatives, Mr. and Mrs. Max Fix-
ler and daughter, of 208 Longfellow
avenue.
Following the Chanukah entertain-
ment at the Beth Sefer Talmud Tor-
ah a banquet was tendered to the
principal, B. 1 saacs, and the teachers
on the staff at the Carmel Restaurant,
Sunday evening, December 21.
Mr. and Mrs. IL L. Bale, 144 Fred-
erick, are giving a party Sunday to
celebrate the fifth birthday anniver-
sary of their daughter, Ray.
Miss Selma Rich of Cleveland, 0.,
is the guest of Mrs. Louis Robinson,
149 Kirby avenue.
Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Foreman and
son, Jay, have returned from a three
months' visit in the south and are now I
making their home at the Hotel Char-
levoix.

Mrs. Sint Hart and her daughter,
Mrs. Sidney Silverman, of 315 Bur-
lingame avenue, have left for New
York where they will visit Mrs. Hugo
Somerich (nee Miss Clara Ilart) and
Miss Miriam Hart.
One of the charming affairs of the
season was a beautifully-appointed
luncheon given by Mrs. Burt C. Ar-
den, of Rowena street, at the Hotel
Statler, Tuesday, December 23. There
nvere fifty guests. The hostess, as-
sisted by Mrs. David \V. Simons, and
her sister, Mrs. Esther R. Sinuous, re-
ceived the guests in the main parlors,
after which luncheon was served in
the Henry II room. The room was
tastefully decorated in a color scheme
of red and green. A screen of smilax
covered lattice work dividing the
rooms, later disclosed the bridge and
lotto tables, the winner at each table
being the recipient of a lovely prize.
Mrs. Joseph Blonder, of Chicago;
Mrs. Stone, of New York; Mrs. Jo-
seph Feerer and Mrs. Wm. Miller, of
Toledo, were the out-of-town guests.
Miss Minnie Willis of 185 Theodore
