LOCAL NOTES

An urgent request has come from
the United Jewish Charities for read-
ing matter, both Yiddish and English,
for the poor sick scattered through
the hospitals of the city. The U. ).
C. case worker, who visits the hos-
pitals, states that the demand for
reading matter conies mainly from
the tubercular patients at the tier-
man Rider Hospital and the Detroit
Tuberculosis Sanitorium. Most of
these patients cannot read English
and any reading material whatsoever
printed in Yiddish, would do much
to brighten the long. weary hours of
suffering of these men and women.
Books may be delivered to the Insti-
tute, 239 East Hight street, or called
for if the donors phone Main 3740.
